Account
Managing the profile photo, display name, sign-in email address, role, and group memberships.
The Account panel manages the user's identity across Persate — the elements that appear on shared briefings, comments, collaborator lists, and any other surface where the user is seen by colleagues.
It is the default panel when the Settings modal is opened.
Profile photo
A square avatar shown alongside the user across the platform. Constraints:
- Formats: JPG, PNG, or WebP.
- Maximum size: 2MB.
To change the photo, select the avatar (or the Upload photo button beside it) — the operating system's file-selection dialog opens. The new image takes effect immediately on save and propagates to other surfaces (sidebar avatar, message timelines, shared-document attribution) without a refresh.
For users who have uploaded a custom photo, a Remove custom photo link appears beneath the upload control. Removing reverts to the platform's auto-generated avatar (initials on a coloured tile).
For users who signed up via Google or Microsoft SSO, the avatar from the identity provider is used as the default. Uploading a custom photo overrides the provider's image; removing it restores the provider's image.
Display name
The name shown in comments, shared reports, and user listings. Optional — when blank, the platform falls back to the name supplied by the identity provider, then to the email address.
The text field accepts any UTF-8 input, including diacritics. Selecting Save persists the change immediately; the Save button is disabled until the field differs from the stored value.
The address used for sign-in and for system notifications. Displayed inline in the panel for reference.
To change the sign-in email, select Change email. A modal opens requesting:
- Current password — for re-authentication.
- New email — the address to switch to.
- Repeat new email — entered a second time to guard against typos.
Submitting the form sends a confirmation link to both the old and the new email addresses. The change takes effect only after both links are followed; until then the old address remains the sign-in address.
For users authenticated via Google or Microsoft SSO, the Change email action is unavailable from this panel — the email address is governed by the identity provider and must be changed there.
Role
The user's permission level across the workspace. Displayed as a pill in the panel; it is read-only here.
Roles in use:
- Administrator — workspace administration, including user and group management.
- Member — full access to the platform features within the user's group memberships.
- Banned — sign-in is blocked; the account is retained but cannot access the workspace.
Role changes are made by a workspace administrator from the Admin Panel (when enabled for the deployment) — not by the user themselves.
Groups
The set of groups the user belongs to. Groups control which documents, alerts, analyses, and other shared resources the user can see.
The panel shows:
- The total count of group memberships.
- A pill for each group, with the group's name and the user's role within it.
Where the user is not a member of any groups, the panel reads "You're not currently a member of any groups. Workspace admins can add you to shared groups for collaboration.". As with role, group membership is changed by a workspace administrator, not by the user.
What changes are permitted from this panel
The Account panel intentionally limits what the user can change about themselves:
- Profile photo — yes.
- Display name — yes.
- Email — yes (with the dual-confirmation flow above).
- Password — no, see Security and Privacy.
- Role — no, an administrator must change this.
- Group membership — no, an administrator must change this.
- Tenant / workspace — no, the user's tenant assignment is fixed for the lifetime of the account.
These boundaries reflect a separation of concerns: identity attributes the user owns are editable here; permission attributes the workspace owns are managed in the Admin Panel.
