Events and stories
Follow events on a timeline or on a board of categories, read event details with representative posts, and open story pages.
Events is the default tab of Media. Persate groups posts into events — concrete developments discussed in the posts — and groups related but distinct events into stories. Each story belongs to one of six categories: Security, Law & government, Energy & climate, Economy, International and Public life.
Two buttons next to the tabs switch the display between Timeline view (the default) and Story graph view. Both follow the Timeline range, Custom period, Categories and Sort events filters described in Media.
Timeline view
Each row is a story. The left column shows the category icon and the title; when a story groups several events, the story title is followed by the number of events. Hovering over a title shows it in full.
The right part is a time axis. A range of two days or more is divided into days, with weekends shaded; a shorter range shows hours. The view opens at the most recent activity. Scroll sideways to go back in time and down to see more stories; Loading more events… appears while further stories load.
- Each bar is an event and spans the period of its activity. Overlapping events of the same story are stacked in separate lanes, and the story's newest event is highlighted.
- Dots inside a bar mark individual posts; posts from official sources stand out in a separate color.
To open details:
- select a bar or a dot to open Event details for that event;
- select a story title: a story with several events opens its story page, and a story with a single event opens Event details.
Story graph view
The board has one column per category, with the number of stories in it; when Categories is set, only the selected categories appear. Each card is a story. Its title opens the story page, and the compact timeline beneath it lists the story's events with date and time; selecting an event opens Event details. Drag the board sideways to reach further columns. No stories in this category. marks an empty column.
Event details
The Event details panel shows the event title, its summary and three figures:
- Sources — the number of independent sources;
- Posts — the number of posts assigned to the event;
- Confidence — the event's confidence score, as a percentage.
Representative evidence lists the most representative posts, with posts from official sources first and marked Official. Each card shows the author, the text and the reactions; Open post on X ↗ opens the original post. Evidence projection is still processing. means the posts for the event are not available yet.
In the timeline and on the board, Open story goes to the story page. Close, or a click outside the panel, closes it.
Story page
A story page, marked Event story, shows the story title and description, followed by these sections:
- Activity — post volume over the duration of the story.
- Events — a card for each event, newest first, with its status (open, quiet or closed), the time of the latest activity, the summary, the number of posts and sources, and the confidence. Open details opens Event details.
- Active people — the people posting in the story, with Club, Posts and Engagement.
- Engagement — Reactions: totals of Replies, Reposts, Likes, Quotes and Views, each with the average per post.
- Posts — the story's posts as cards.
The right-hand panel (on a phone, the Details button) shows At a glance — Window, Events, Posts, Sources and Active people — and Reactions. The Events breadcrumb returns to the timeline.
If the story is no longer available, Story unavailable appears with Open event timeline.
Links from Advisor
Advisor answers can cite media stories and events. A cited story opens its story page. A cited event opens its story page with Event details for that event already open. When the event cannot be opened, Media event unavailable appears.
